NOTES FOR THE GUIDANCE OF NEW CAPTAINS
1. Players must be played in the order of strength, and any default
should be on the bottom board(s).
2. First names and YCA codes, if available, should be shown on
the match report form.
3. Match reports should be sent to the relevant Divisional Secretary by email or post within five days of the match. Note that if neither of the captains do so, then the match is declared lost to both teams!
4. If there is any dispute which cannot be resolved by the two captains,
written details should also be sent to the Divisional Secretary within five days.
5. League fixtures may be altered by mutual agreement and with the
agreement of the Divisional Secretary, but both captains are required to inform the Secretary. It is not safe to rely on the other captain, who may forget.
6. Although a match can be re-arranged, it cannot simply be postponed. A new date must be agreed and notified to the Divisional Secretary within five days of the original date. Failing that, the original date stands and a failure to notify the result causes the match to be declared lost to both sides.
7. Matches may not be arranged for Cup weeks, unless both teams
have been eliminated.
8. If consulted by a team member during a match as to whether a draw should be offered or accepted, you may only consider the match position, not the position in the game.
9. Finally, get an up-to-date copy of the relevant league rules (rules
14 to 24 inclusive) and study them. These are available on the website.
